About the PHOTOGRAPHER
Clara Rice
In high school my family went on a trip to Italy for ten days. With seemingly no warning I took nine rolls of film on that trip, using a dinky little point-and-shoot camera that I still love and occasionally even use.
I enrolled in my high school’s darkroom photography class and many chemicals later this landed me as a photography major at Northeastern University in Boston. It’s not an art school, but that's actually what I valued most out of the experience. My department was small but the teachers were great, and I got exposed to so many other people and their journeys.
Fast forward through a myriad of cameras, part-time jobs, strange apartments, and shoots with very compliant friends. The Bay Area took me in over ten years ago and I can’t imagine being anywhere else! I now live with my husband and toddler, navigating parenthood while running a business. Most of my free time is spent playing soccer and tennis, attempting to tire out our poodle Theo, and attempting to feed my toddler a food group other than raisins.
Weddings fit so naturally into my sensibilities because they involve every type of photography in one action-packed day! I love it all, from the the soft window light of getting-ready, to stealthily capturing emotional ceremonies, to playing with lights on the dance floor. Getting married was an amazing eye-opener into the value of wedding photos and the client’s perspective. I truly love being deeply involved in every aspect of the planning & execution, and appreciate the trust placed in me on such an intimate day. It's such a cool thing, and I'm here to help you remember it all.
